Paul Harris Fellow

A Rotary Club can honour its members with a Paul Harris Fellowship. It is usually awarded for service to the club over and above what would be considered usual or "expected"

Paul Harris Fellow recognition was created in memory of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary, as a way to show appreciation for contributions to the Foundation's charitable and educational program.

A Paul Harris Fellow is an individual who contributes $1,000 or in whose name that amount is contributed.

Every Paul Harris Fellow receives a pin, medallion and a certificate when he or she becomes a Fellow.  This identifies the Paul Harris Fellow as an advocate of the Foundation's goals of world peace and international understanding.

It has been a practice of many clubs to award Paul Harris Fellowships in appreciation of his or her service to the club or the local, national or international community.

So far The Rotary Club of Whiteley has awarded two Paul Harris Fellowships. The first was to Allan Chamberlain, a long serving Rotarian and Past Assistant District Governor, a founder member of the club without whose dedication and hard work the Rotary Club of Whiteley would not exist. The second was awarded to the remarkable Helen Somerset How, to recognise her achievements in creating, expanding and developing the Rainbow Centre, a facility to assist the development of children with cerebral palsy. See our links page for their website.
